The road to parenthood...

I wanted to have a baby for a really, really long time.  It got to the point where I was envious of other women's pregnancies, wanting to say sarcastic things like, "Yay for you and your awesome uterus."  I didn't like feeling snarky, but I just knew that I wanted to be a mom, and it wasn't happening for me.

Somehow (and yes, I do actually know how, but this is a family blog), it worked out for us.  But I remember, all the time, the feeling of wanting this baby, this family.  And when I finally talked about how hard it was, I found out a lot of people had or were having similar journeys, not always with the same ending.  I heard about foster parents, blended families, IVF, adoption, and all kinds of roads to parenthood.  And when it comes down to it, I believe that people willing to work so hard for a family will be awesome parents.

Through my friend Michelle, I met Amy.  And by met, I mean blog-stalked.  Her writing is sweet and funny, and highlights a life that seems joyful.  I did finally meet Amy in person as well, and she strikes me as, well, awesome.  And it turns out Amy and her husband Chris want to be parents and are pursuing adoption.  In an effort to help them get the word out, I am posting their adoption website (http://www.chrisandamythompson.webs.com/here as well as their iheartadoption website.

So if you can help spread the word, or know anyone who might be in a position to help Amy and Chris become parents, please contact them (phone and email on the websites) or forward their info.  Everyone's road to parenthood is different, but if the wide world of interwebs can shorten one of those roads, that'd be pretty cool.

  1. What a sweet post. Now you have to join me in the conspiracy to get them to move to Portland. First Brooke, then the Thompsons. The circle will be nearly complete!

  3. Yes, they need to be here! We have leaf blowers too! And creepy things that live under our houses. It'd be as good as Georgia.
