Today we attended a potluck party hosted by Julie, who was in my prenatal group. There were at least 8 families there, all with babies aged 6 months or younger. The food was yummy, the conversation was great, and the day served as a reminder that no matter how different we are, we all face some of the same parenting challenges and get the same parenting joys. Seeing all those babies was cool - they are each so unique, and are becoming these tiny people. I mean, I know they're all people already, but every day we see Lola claim some more of her own Lola-ness, and to see that with each of these other babies was pretty awesome. Lola had a good time - she's the life of any party. Ted and I felt super-proud to be with her. Nobody got an all-baby photo - hopefully next time!
Here is Lola with Finn (Julie's son), today, and for reference, the shot below it which was taken right after Lola punched Finn in the face back in May (Lola is the baby on the far right, Finn is next to her). Each seems to have gotten over it, and Finn let Lola steal his sock and chew on it for a while. If that isn't friendship, I don't know what is. Although, I am wondering if perhaps the sock theft is simply payback - note that Lola's sock is missing in the photo from May. Coincidence?
