Thankful...

I don't believe in being thankful on a prescribed day, once a year, but I've gotten over my dislike of thanksgiving as I have gotten older-remembering that gratitude is never a bad thing. Whether a horribly weighted land deal (you like these shiny beads? Cool! Here are some smallpox-infused blankets to seal the deal) or just time with family we don't always get to see, today is a special day.

This year, Darlene (Ted's mom) is here with us and much work has gone on in my kitchen (without me-my favorite kind of work). Lola helped with green beans and jello and the turkey is rotissing on the barbecue. Who can complain?

My life is filled with wonderful things and people whom I love (and, mysteriously, who love me back), and I find myself suffused with happiness and contentment. And soon, we'll be enjoying an awesome meal prepared by many hands at a table I set for us (hey, I can help a little!). Here's to that!
