Sticks and stones...and slides.

So, as you may have noticed in her birthday post, Lola had her first pretty good traumatic injury - falling off the big red slide in Sellwood Park and landing on her right shoulder.  She's normally a very, "shake it off" kind of kid, so when it was still hurting the next day, off to Gen Peds we went.  X-rays followed, and then a visit with Peds Ortho who confirmed she had a proximal humeral fracture (top of her right arm).  Then they told us to immobilize it for 2 weeks.  Good luck with that for an active 3 year old Lola!  So we went instead with an old classic - swaddling.  I wrapped her everyday in an ace bandage and pinned it to her shirt.  A couple of weeks later, she was healing like a champ and able to be de-swaddled.  While it won't fully heal for another few weeks, she is doing great and rockin' the arm like a champ.

The last trip up the slide before she fell, at about the location she fell...

Can't slow down the Lola!

More fun while injured
